If youre gonna do it, ya gotta do it right...

"If it aint broke then dont fix it", right? Nope. Not in our case. Since our house is older, there was a TON of plaster and lathe on the ceilings and walls. This wouldn't do, especially for Mr. JerseyJess. I think what really sparked the demo rage was the popcorn ceilings. Im pretty sure his eyes glared a little red when he saw them and within 24 hours of us owning the home, the multiple ceilings and floors were gone! Then I get a call from the man with the demo hammer asking how much I liked the closet we had in the dining room. When I asked why, he told me because he would rather demo it so he could easily put in the new floors... and we could always add a closet later. I kinda liked the closet, especially since its an older house and there aren't many closets. BUT he had a point, it wasn't made well and was kinda in an awkward place and we didn't need the closet...gone. At this point Im sure you done with my rambling and just wanna see the pics, so here they are!

Living Room/ Dining Room
Before pictures...
Lovin those stylish curtains and the lovely wall boarder!

Unfortunately because I wasn't allowed at the house with all the dust and mess I don't have any pics of the tear down phase. But here are some of our handy helpers putting it all back together! New insulation & new drywall...

And Dad, the foreman makin sure the beers don't go to waist...

Ceiling up, primer on...ready for paint and floors!

Finally some color!

And the new hardwood floors! Lucky for us, Mr. Jerseyjess works for a flooring company and installs on the side!

Dont mind the shirtless husband or random temporary couch!

We still have to put up some trim and add the new furniture but its a start! Hopefully in a few weeks I will have pictures of a finished and lovely living room and dining room!
